L.A. Counts 2010 Soirée
On June 24 The Los Angeles Theatre Center was buzzing with
excitement of a job well done. It turns out that Los Angeles beat out
cities like New York and Chicago in the Census counts. Even though
it’s still an ongoing job, the main census counts is over. And this
night was the Mayor’s thank you to all the different city and county
departments, private business and non-profit organizations that
worked very hard to get this huge task done. Everyone had a good
time. Photos: © Angela María Ortíz S.

Amazing Night for me, thanks Latin Heat!
By Angela María Ortíz S.—As Red carpets go, sometimes they
can be
in disarray; with publicist, name card holding assistants all
jockeying
for the best photo op position. With this come some unexpected
opportunities, since I usually don’t get the coveted spots–this
was
one of those evenings. I had to be more assertive which worked
to
my advantage.
This night I had the pleasure of talking and photographing
celebrities
I grew up watching and enjoying for most of my young and adult
life.
People like Shirley Jones, Cloris Leachman and Jo Anne Worley
and
many more.
It was really nice to see Latino Hollywood with these wonderful
older
established talents out to....
