NHMC Honors Outstanding Latino Talent
The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) celebrated its
13th
Annual Impact Awards Gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on a
beautiful Friday night. The Masters of Ceremonies for the
evening
were Wilmer Valderrama, well known for his role of Fez from
That
70’s Show and the voice of Manny from Disney’s Handy
Mandy and Jose Luis Valenzuela, who’s the Artistic Director
of
the Latino Theater Company and THE NEW LATC and an award
winning theater director and a tenured professor at UCLA’s
School
of

FAMILIAR GROUND by Abel Alejandre at Project 210
On Valentine’s Day, there was an eclectic crowd at Project 210 in
Pasadena to check out Mr. Alejandre’s work. His work is intense;
he works mostly in graphite on paper, canvas and even wood. If

Photography Show Opens at MOLAA
On Saturday, February 13, 2010, The Museum of Latin American
Art (MOLAA) had their first all photography show opening —
Changing the Focus: Latin American Photography (1990-2005).

Latin Heat Checks Out Art in January
At the KGB Gallery north of Chinatown, we were treated to Luis
C.
Garza Time Refocused Photography exhibit. It was the
photographers first solo show in a forty-year career.
Over at Photo L.A., which took place at the Santa Monica Civic
and
it, showcased over 30 photography galleries from the U.S.A. and
the
world.

Celebrities Support the “Wall of Honor” Unveiling to American Heroes
On Saturday, December 5, 2009 the City of Los Angeles in
association with the Eugene Obregon Memorial Foundation presented
the “Wall of Honor.” This was phase two of three, to honor our
nation’s 3,456 Medal of Honor recipients, of which 40 are American-
Latino. Latino Hollywood was represented and performed a
tribute to these heroes.

The Creative Coalition’s Spotlight Initiative: The Fifty Dinner
The Creative Coalition turned the spotlight on American Latino
filmmaker Franc. Reyes this past Tuesday, December 8th at the
Luxe Hotel in Brentwood. Representatives from almost every
facet
of show business were in attendance to address the issue of the
Latino voice in Hollywood.

Iʼm Not Like That No More Screening
On Wednesday, November 18th Latin Heat was at the ArcLight Hollywood for the screening of the new Felipe Esparza / Paul Rodriguez film, I'm Not Like That No More. It must have been crazy on set with the cast, because these guys were having a great time at the screening. The film premieres in 2010.

Bienestar’s Latin Factory VI (An AIDS Benefit)
Bienestar Human Services, Inc. celebrated its 20th year with
Latin
Factory VI, which showcased the clothing of nine local and
international
designers. And it all took place at one of Los Angeles downtown
landmarks, the Mayan theater on November 19, 2009.
