Presented by Farmers Insurance Group, Celebration to Honor Alex Wallau, Beto Cuevas & AT&T

Los Angeles, CA – On Thursday, October 18, PADRES Contra El Cáncer (PADRES) a nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families, will celebrate its Seventh Annual Fund–Raising Gala, “El Sueno de Esperanza.” The ceremony’s theme, “An Evening for Celebration and HOPE” will pay tribute to PADRES’ extraordinary children and families. Presented by Farmer Insurance Group, (FARMERS), festivities will commence at 6:30 pm and will be held at ‘THE LOT’ in West Hollywood, California.

Eva Longoria, star of ABC’s Desperate Housewives and PADRES’ National Spokesperson, will serve as Gala Chair. Actor / Comedian George Lopez will serve as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. In addition to PADRES National Ambassadors Yancy Arias, Adrian Bellani, Angelica Castro, Matt Cedeno, Cristian de la Fuente and Fernando del Rincon, other prominent celebrities who have lent their name and joined Eva in support of PADRES include Jessica Alba, Billy Bush, Ricardo Antonio Chavira, Marica Cross, Oscar de La Hoya, Jamie Foxx, Terrence Howard, Feliclity Huffman, Mario Lopez, Constance Marie, Carlos Mencia, Brittany Murphy, Ana Ortiz, Tony Parker, Den Paves, Paulina Rubio, Roselyn Sanchez, Ryan Seacrest, Jessica Simpson and Sofia Vergara.

In her role as Assistant Vice–President of Diversity & Emerging Markets, Luisa Acosta-Franco announced that FARMERS has entered into a two–year agreement with the charitable organization and will serve as the annual ceremony’s Title Sponsor during 2007 and 2008. “Children are our most precious resource" said Acosta-Franco. "As a responsible corporate citizen, we remain forever committed to building upon our legacy of work not only with PADRES and humanitarians like Eva Longoria, but with all who are committed to promoting the health and well being of economically–disadvantaged children and families.”

Elvia Barboa, M.A., PADRES’ Chief Executive Officer, also announced that Mercedes Benz USA will continue expanding its support for the organization and will participate as the ‘Official Vehicle Sponsor’ for this year’s ceremony. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Mercedes Benz USA for its continued advocacy on behalf of PADRES’ life – saving mission, said Barboa. “Thanks to their continued participation and support, heroes like Eva Longoiz and, especially, our extraordinary PADRES children and families can continue to propel forward on the never – ending quest to conquer childhood cancer.”

‘El Sueno de Esperanza’ will also recognize PADRES’ distinguished friends and colleagues for their humanitarian contributions in support of the cancer community. Honorees this year include Alex Wallau (Special Senior Advisor, The Walt Disney Company), a cancer advocate who will receive the CHAMPION OF HOPE Award; Beto Cuevas (Grammy Award–Winning Recording Artist), who will receive the Ruby Oliva Cedillo Tribute Award; and AT&T, whose direct financial contributions in support of PADRES and its life–saving mission will be acknowledged with the ‘El Sueno de Esperanza' Award.

This year’s celebration will also feature special performances by Grammy Award – Winning Artists Obie Berbudez and Los Angeles’ very own Ozomatli.
