“Blast Beat” Secures Financing & Latino Talent

Macro (Fences, Mudbound, Roman J. Israel, Esq.), the multicultural media company founded by former WME partner Charles D. King, is on board to finance and produce Esteban Arango‘s short film Blast Beat, into a feature film. The drama which is also co-written with Erik Castrillon, and attached to star are Moises Arias (Five Feet Apart) and Mateo Arias (Kickin’ It) along with Wilmer Valderrama (NCIS) and singer Kali Uchis will also co-star. In addition, The Good Doctor’s Daniel Day Kim is close to signing on.

King along with Macro’s Poppy Hanks will produce the film along with Castrillon and Ty Walker. The project is described as an “energetic, youth-driven, metal-blasting coming age story” that follows two Colombian brothers as they adjust to life in America. Executive producing for Macro are Creative Producer Greta Fuentes, and Director of Development Yira Vilaro.

 The Arias brothers and both are repped by Kazarian/Measures/Ruskin & Associate and Myman, Greenspan, Fox, Rosenberg. Valderrama is repped by UTA and Silver Lining Ent. Uchis is repped by WME; and Kim by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman. Arango and Castrillon are repped by Paradigm, Valor Entertainment Group, and Hirsch, Wallerstein, Hayum.
