Grasie Mercedes Joins Cast of ‘Grand Crew’ as Series Regular

NBC announced today that Grasie Mercedes has been added to the cast of NBC’s upcoming comedy series Grand Crew. Phil Augusta Jackson (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) will be writing and executive producing along with Dan Goor, who is one of the creators of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Mo Marable will direct and co-executive produce the pilot.

Mercedes is a Dominican-American transplant from New York City, now living in Los Angeles. Her acting career includes appearances and stints on some of television’s most noted shows including 9-1-1 (FOX), Good Trouble (Freeform), HBO’s The Affair and Criminal Minds (CBS). She also recently wrote on NBC’s Perfect Harmony

Grand Crew is set around a group of young professionals trying to navigate the ups and downs of life and love in Los Angeles—always finding time to gather at their favorite bar to “wine down” and unpack it all. The premise, which has proven successful in past series, has Mercedes playing Fay, a recently divorced transplant to Los Angeles who becomes fast friends with the regulars at Eastside Cru. It is refreshing to see an Afro-Latina cast, whether she plays Latina or not. She joins the previously announced cast members Nicole Byer (Tuca & Bertie), Justin Cunningham (When They See Us), Aaron Jennings (Stumptown), Echo Kellum (Arrow) and Carl Tart (Kenan).

In addition to Mercedes recently adding writing to her resume, during the pandemic she executive produced and wrote the podcast Not (Blank) Enough in which she hosted candid conversations with her guests about insecurities and triumphs related to feelings of “not-enoughness.” Season 2 was released in June of 2021.

Mercedes is a former improviser and sketch comedy actor and an alumna of both iO West and UCB. She is repped by CAA and Katie Newman at 3 Arts Entertainment

Grand Crew is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
