Terrero & Studio Developing Ground-Breaking Reggaeton Documentary Series Under
Miami, Florida — Award-winning film and music video director Jessy Terrero, has signed an overall development deal with Endemol Shine Boomdog, Endemol Shine North America’s recently launched Spanish-language production studio. Alejandro Rincon, CEO, Endemol Shine Boomdog made the announcement today.
Terrero is an established director, with over 20 years of experience in music videos, commercials and feature films. His most recent film, Freelancers, (LionsGate) stars Robert De Niro, Forest Whittaker and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
Under the deal, Terrero and his production company Cinema Giants, will develop both original scripted and unscripted content with Endemol Shine Boomdog for the Latin TV marketplace. Terrero is currently serving as Executive Producer and Director on Endemol Shine Boomdog’s upcoming drama series Nicky Jam: El Ganador, an authorized bio-series based on the life and career of the Latin music superstar, which has been sold to Telemundo and Netflix.
Currently Terrero and Endemol Shine Boomdog are developing a ground-breaking documentary series on Reggaeton entitled, Under. The 13-episode series will feature many of the biggest names in the world of Reggaeton.
“We are working closely with him now on our upcoming series with Nicky Jam, ‘El Ganador,’ and we have a tremendous amount of respect and appreciation for his talent as both a director and producer,” said Rincon of Terrero.
“Over the last couple of years, we have witnessed the global impact of Latin urban music in the mainstream and I look forward to developing content that resonates with that culture,” said Terrero. “As a music video director, my main objective has always been focused on raising the bar visually for Latinos and I believe Endemol Shine Boomdog is the perfect partner to help take my vision across multiple platforms”.
Prior to his feature films, Terrero became one of the most sought-after music video directors in the U.S. and Latin markets. His inventive music videos have been nominated on numerous occasions throughout the years at both the MTV Video Music Awards and the Billboard Music Awards. Terrero’s work takes inspiration from his native Latin heritage and combines that perspective with what he learned from working in the general market. Terrero’s style has been described as a hybrid of American visuals blended with Latin sensibility.
Terrero’s music videos have garnered over 2 billion views in 2016 alone. His most recent directorial work includes the music video for El Amante, Nicky Jam’s first single off his new album El Fenix and Vente Pa’Ca for Ricky Martin and Maluma, as well as other top Latin and world renown artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, Farruko and Prince Royce.
In 2012, Terrero joined a group of partners to launch the Google-financed YouTube channel, 123UnoDosTres, catering to young Latinos. Through his production company, Terrero Digital, he acts as the creative director of the channel, in addition to supervising its production.
As a commercial director, Terrero has worked closely with brands like Pepsi, helping to create commercials and content that speaks to their audiences. Whether it’s a Kohl’s commercial with Jennifer Lopez or a Reebok spot for NBA superstar John Wall, Terrero’s creative style always shines through and compliments his brand partners.
Endemol Shine Boomdog is the new Spanish-language division of Endemol Shine North America that develops and produces original content for the U.S. Hispanic and Mexican TV markets. The division was formed in November 2017, when Endemol Shine Latino joined forces with Mexico City-based production company Boomdog to form Endemol Shine Boomdog.
Endemol Shine Boomdog produces many of the top series in the region, including hit scripted series El Vato (Netflix/Universo) MasterChef Mexico (TV Azteca), Mira Quién Baila (Univision), Chumel con Chumel Torres, (HBO), as well as upcoming drama series Nicky Jam: El Ganador (Telemundo/Netflix), Tu Cara Me Suena (Univision) and “MasterChef Latino” (Telemundo).
Endemol Shine Boomdog has also announced it is producing El Clan with DNF Pictures, a scripted series based on Maria Raquenel Portillo’s forthcoming autobiography that tells the behind-the-scenes story of the biggest scandal in Latin music history. The studio also recently announced, that alongside Somos Productions and Piñolywood Studios, it is producing the first-ever scripted drama series based on the most successful Latin boy band of all time, Menudo.
