Juan Pablo Raba To Co-Star in Paramount’s “Coyote”

By Luis Reyes

Juan Pablo Raba has been cast to co-star opposite Michael Chiklis (The Shield) in Paramount Network’s new contemporary one-hour border drama Coyote.  Raba will play El Cartin, head of a small family run cartel in Mexico.  El Cartin is described as “charming and impeccably dressed, a man who would just as soon invite you to dinner as have you killed.”

Coyote stars Chiklis as a former border patrol agent who is forced to work for the cartels. Now exposed to life on the other side of the border he begins to question his morality and prior dedication to law enforcement.

Raba recently completed a starring role in the upcoming feature film action thriller The Minuteman alongside Liam Neeson. On television, the Colombian born Raba is best known internationally for his role as Gustavo Gaviria on Narcos and for starring as Ricky Ortiz on the military drama Six which aired for two seasons on the History channel. He appeared in a recurring role in the third season of ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. His character Joey Gutierrez is the first openly gay hero in the Marvel franchise.

Coyote is slated to premiere sometime in 2020 and is executive produced and directed by Michelle Maclaren (Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad), Dark Horse Entertainment and Sony Pictures TV.

Written by David Graziano who also serves as showrunner and executive producer along with co-writers Michael Carnes and Josh Gilbert.  Dark Horse entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldbloom with Rebecca Hobbs of Maclaren Entertainment are also executive producers.

Carla Hool (Coco, Rambo: Last Blood) is the casting director for the series.

Juan Pablo Raba is represented by the Gersh agency and Impression Entertainment.
