Meet Xochitl Gomez, Hollywood’s Young Rising Star

Xochitl Gomez, the 14-year-old, Canadian actress, continues to build her resume with exciting new roles. Appearing on the popular Netflix series, Gentefied, and landing her first big TV series role on the remake of The Baby-Sitters Club. Both shows include a diverse cast, advocating, and challenging the “norm.” 

The Baby-Sitters Club is an adaptation of author Ann M. Martin’s classic coming-of-age franchise with a modern twist that follows a group of girlfriends and their homegrown babysitting business

 In the new series, The Baby-Sitters Club, Gomez, plays the role of Dawn Schafer, the new Latina girl in town from Los Angeles, California. Gomez’s character is true to her roots, being that she is an “LA girl,” she brings an open-mind and ethical challenges to the group dynamic. These are almost always positive challenges, whether that be helping other characters understand LGBTQ rights, advocating for environmental justice, or pushing the girls to view their flaws as their strengths! 

In the first season of the series, Gentefied, Gomez plays a young Ana Morales, the role played by Kerrie Martin as an adult.  It is a minor role, nonetheless an important role. As Gomez’s scenes as the young Ana, had her dealing with her intimate memories of when there was the realization that she was different — that she was attracted to other girls. 

The handling of these heavy topics showed off Gomez’s acting chops and definitely got the attention of the powers that be, and she soon landed the series role in The Baby-Sitters Club. 

Gomez has a long career ahead of her as she takes on these prominent roles and as she continues to work hard to further her career. Be sure to check out Xochitl Gomez and the whole cast of The Baby-Sitters Club currently streaming on Netflix.
