MIAMI, FL — May 2, 2023 — (NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE) — Primo TV, V-me Media’s network targeting today’s Multicultural Youth joins the Palm Awards as a key sponsor to their annual event.

High school student performers, set designers, and crew will take the stage for the annual Palm Awards on Wednesday, May 10, at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. The historically sold-out event – with over 1,800 attendees – offers an evening of spectacular musical performances and celebrity appearances as high school students and theater directors compete for awards in 25 categories, including Best Production in Musical and Play, Best Actor and Actress, and Best Technical Crew. Much like the Tony Awards, which celebrates the best of Broadway, the show even includes a memorable Red Carpet experience.

Shining light on local talent

The Palm Awards is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the Rio Grande Valley. Retired PSJA ISD high school theater teachers Michael Alebis and Gilbert Zepeda, Jr. founded the Palm Awards in 2017. They aimed to enhance the awareness of theater-arts education in the Rio Grande Valley and honor students' hard work and commitment by publicly recognizing their exceptional accomplishments.

"Primo TV, as part of V-Me Media, is honored and very excited to sponsor and support the Palm Awards," says V-ME Media Vice President of Marketing Michael Fernandez. "The show serves as a vehicle to raise awareness of the importance of theater education in the Rio Grande Valley. The talent in the RGV is predominantly Latino, and as a minority owned and operated organization, it is extremely important for V-Me Media to help showcase this talent.”

The organization has seen substantial growth since its founding. Now collaborating with the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts and the McAllen Performing and Cultural Arts Foundation, the Palm Awards provides student performers with scholarships, mentorship opportunities, and a national platform to exhibit their incredible work.
