Selena Movie Returns to Theaters in April.

To celebrate the life and legacy of Mexican-American Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla, the biopic inspired by her life will return to theaters across the U.S. on April 7.

The biopic, starring Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos, inspired so many people around the globe. 25 Years later, it continues to move the hearts of millions of fans who love her songs.

“Rediscover a family’s story of dedication, perseverance and hope in breaking a male-dominated music genre and taking the world by storm,” Selena´s family wrote in the announcement of the film’s re-release.

“This movie means so much to me … Selena and her family mean so much to me, and I was so lucky to be chosen to play her,” Lopez wrote on her social media. “I’ll never forget this time in my life and it’s an honor as an artist to have been part of the magic that is this movie.”

Selena was killed on March 31 by her fan club president Yolanda Saldivar weeks before her 24th birthday, which would have been April 16, 1995.

Selena the movie was inducted into the Library of Congress’ 2021 National Film Registry this past December.
