Fan favorite , Acapulco returns for season three with the first two episodes debuting globally on Wednesday, May 1, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through June 26.

Fans on Reddit agree that Acapulco is a fav of theirs and even have some advice to other streamers. Jonathan Oberg commented “I’m all in. One of the best shows on any streamer. Apple needs to avoid the Netflix trap of canceling shows too soon.”

The Apple TV+ teases season three with a new trailer that gives us a peek to what we will see in the global popular, bilingual hit comedy series starring and executive produced by Emmy and SAG-Award winner Eugenio Derbez. 

This new season Acapulco brings the reconciliation of past mistakes and exciting new beginnings. The older Máximo (Derbez) finds himself returning to Las Colinas a place he no longer recognizes. While in 1985, younger Máximo (Enrique Arrizon) continues his climb up the ladder of success while potentially jeopardizing all the relationships he’s worked so hard to build.

Returning to Acapulco is the winning ensemble cast which includes Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar, Camila Perez, Vanessa Bauche, Regina Reynoso, Raphael Alejandro, Jessica Collins, Rafael Cebrián, Regina Orozco, and Carlos Corona with recurring guest stars Jaime Camil (Schmigadoon) and Cristo Fernandez (Ted Lasso) joining the cast in season three.

Acapulco the series is produced for Apple by Lionsgate Television, 3Pas Studios, Zihuatanejo Productions and The Tannenbaum Company. The inspiration for the show was the box office hit How to Be A Latin Lover produced by 3Pas Studios and Pantelion Films’, in which Derbez played “Maximo” a kid with humble beginnings who grows up searching for the wealthiest women to marry. The series is executive produced by Derbez alongside Ben Odell and is created by Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman.

Acapulco is in good company at Apple Original films, where their documentaries and series have earned 482 wins and 2,142 award nominations and counting, including multi-Emmy Award-winning comedy Ted Lasso and historic Oscar Best Picture winner CODA.

Season two picks up right on the heels of season one, telling the story of twenty-something Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon), whose dream comes true when he scores the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco, Las Colinas. In 1985, Máximo must contend with upheaval at the resort, unexpected problems at home and a new love interest who just might rival the girl of his dreams. Under Don Pablo’s (Damián Alcázar) guidance, he sets his eyes on one day running the entire Las Colinas operation by becoming Diane’s right-hand man. Meanwhile, in present-day, Older Máximo returns to Acapulco to make peace with the recent passing of Don Pablo, where he is forced to confront some unfinished business young Máximo left behind.

 Acapulco is inspired by the box office hit film How to be a Latin Lover which starred Derbez and Salma Hayek, produced by 3Pas Studios and Pantalion, and released by Lionsgate. The TV show is a global production that includes Lionsgate Television, 3Pas Studios, Zihuatanejo Productions and The Tannenbaum Company, created by Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman. Jay Karas is both executive producer and director. In addition to starring, Derbez serves as executive producer alongside Ben Odell for 3Pas, Eric and Kim Tannenbaum and Jason Wang. Sonia Gambaro is co-executive producer on behalf of 3Pas Studios.

Apple TV+ is extending its stay at the Las Colinas resort with a season two renewal of Acapulco, a comedy series shot in Mexico.

The Spanish and English-language series, with a current 100% rating on the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes, stars executive producer Eugenio Derbez, who recently took home a SAG Award as part of the celebrated ensemble of Apple Original Film CODA.

Though set in the 1980s port of Acapulco, the series is actually filmed in the also world-famous beach resort of Puerto Vallarta. Production of season two is slated to start this spring.

Acapulco tells the story of twenty-something Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon), whose dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco. Actress, singer and filmmaker Selena Gomez will appear in Season Two of Apple TV+’s Dear…, debuting worldwide on March 4.

Inspired by Apple’s Dear Apple spots, Dear… spotlights today’s iconic figures in society using letters written by those whose lives have been changed through their work. “By reading these letters, each influential figure learns how they have unknowingly impacted others and gains new insight into how their work has made a unique contribution to the global community,” claimed streamer in a press statement.

Gomez will join a roster of personalities like the late fashion icon Andre Leon Talley, Oscar-winning actors Viola Davis and Jane Fonda, Nobel Peace Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Ava DuVernay, Primetime Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated actor Billy Porter, multiple-Golden Globe-winning actress Sandra Oh, basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton.

Texas-born Gomez is one of today’s most recognizable pop stars both as an actress and singer. She started her acting career on the PBS children’s show Barney & Friends in the early 2000s and later rose to prominence for her role in the Disney Channel TV series Wizards of Waverly Place. She has been featured in dozens of TV and film projects, including the Horton Hears a Who!, Princess Protection Program, Monte Carlo, Spring Breakers, Hotel Transylvania, Behaving Badly and The Fundamentals of Caring. She can currently be seen in HBO Max’s cooking show Selena + Chef and Hulu’s mystery/comedy series Only Murders in the Building.

Her hits include “Come & Get It,” “Lose You to Love Me” and and the Spanish-language “999” with Colombian, Latin Grammy-winner singer Camilo. Three of her songs have been played more than one billion times on Spotify, “Wolves”, the bilingual “Taki Taki” with Ozuna and Cardi B and “It Ain’t Me” with Norwegian DJ Kygo.  

The first season of Dear… featured Lin-Manuel Miranda, Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Spike Lee, Yara Shahidi, Stevie Wonder, Aly Raisman, Misty Copeland, Big Bird and others. 

Dear… is executive produced by Emmy and Peabody Award winner R.J. Cutler alongside Todd Lubin, Jay Peterson, Jane Cha and Lyle Gamm. Matador Content produces the series for Apple.

Acapulco is a prequel to the film that features a younger Máximo played by Enrique Arrizon, a young Mexican actor who was nominated for a Diosa de Plata award for his role in the 2017 drama Las Hijas de Abril.

A journey back to the 1980s, the new series tells the story of twenty-something Máximo whose dream of working as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in the Mexican port of Acapulco. However, the gig is more complex than he thought. To survive and succeed, Maximo must learn to navigate a demanding clientele, a mercurial mentor and a complicated home life, all while facing temptations and the appeal of shortcuts to get the job done. The show was actually shot in Puerto Vallarta.

Joining Derbez and Arrizon as part of the ensemble cast are newcomer Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar (La Ley de Herodes), Camila Perez (Gotham), Chord Overstreet (Glee), Vanessa Bauche (Amores Perros), Regina Reynoso (Ahí te Encargo), Jessica Collins (Catch Me If You Can) and Rafael Cebrián (Narcos).

Chris Spain and Jon Zack, who penned How to Be a Latin Lover, are credited as writers. The show’s writing team includes Mara Vargas Jackson (La Casa de las Flores), Eduardo Cisneros (Instructions Not Included), Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother), Jason Shuman (Bangkok Dangerous) and Austin Winsberg (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist).

Series directors include an impressive combination of talent from both sides of the border. They are Roberto Sneider (Me Estás Matando, Susana) along with some Hollywood award-winning filmmakers who have helmed successful and acclaimed shows like Jay Karas (Superstore), Tristram Shapeero (Community) and Dean Holland (The Office). Also directing is Richard Shepard (The Matador).
