This will be the second consecutive time Contreras hosts the show, joined by Rivera who previously emceed the awards night four years ago. For Sánchez, it will be her fifth time hosting the Latin Grammy. The actress of the Fox series Fantasy Island served as the hostess of the 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th editions of the coveted music prize.

While born in McAllen, Texas, Contreras was actually raised in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. She moved to Mexico City while still a teenager to participate in the competition TV show Pop Stars. She was a member of the group T’detila. After studying acting, she worked in telenovelas like Barrera de Amor, Duelo de Pasiones, Teresa and Corazón Indomable. She returned to the U.S. in 2018 to join the cast of The CW’s soap opera reboot of Dynasty, which she only did for one season before going back to Mexico. There, she will be featured in the upcoming TV thriller series Toda la Sangre.

Rivera rose to fame in his native Mexico when he won TV Azteca’s singing competition La Academia in 2004. Since then, the singer has released four studio albums and starred also in several theatre productions. One of his biggest hits is the 2020 song “Perdiendo la Cabeza” performed along with American singer Becky G and Puerto Rican singer Pedro Capó. The song reached number one in Mexico and also charted in other Latin American countries. 

Sánchez is best known for her roles on the CBS police drama Without a Trace, which earned her an Alma Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Television Series. She was also featured on the Lifetime comedy-drama Devious Maids and currently stars in the Fox series reboot of Fantasy Island. Her film credits include Rush Hour 2, Boat Trip, The Game Plan and Act of Valor. The actress/model, who also has delved into music, has also been a Latin Grammy nominee herself. In 2003, she recorder her debut album, Borinqueña, with the single entitled “Amor Amor” getting a nod for Best Music Video.

After the Latin Grammy ceremony, winners and other guests are expected to attend the Official Latin Grammy After-Party, which once again will take place at the Hakkasan Nightclub. 

Not only nominees, stars and celebrities will attend this year’s Latin Grammys. A limited number of tickets are now available for purchase at www.axs.com. 

In Sin City, Latin Grammy attendees are expected to observe Covid-19 protocols, providing proof of full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test along with a government-issued photo ID. Only lab-administered PCR and Antigen COVID-19 tests will be accepted and must be administered within 72 hours of the events, according to organizers. Furthermore, guests of all Latin Recording Academy events will also be required to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status and could undergo symptom screening upon entry. 

The award ceremony will also air on the cable channel TNT in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela. Additional international broadcasting partners will be announced at a later date.

Actress Roselyn Sánchez  and singer Carlos Rivera will return as co-hosts of the 21st Annual Latin Grammy Awards on Thurs., Nov, 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CT)

Rivera previously joined as emcee during the 18th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, while Sánchez returns for the fifth time, after hosting the 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

The Latin Recording Academy has also announced the roster performers for the awards ceremony that includes Latin Grammy current nominees and past winners Bad Bunny, Pedro Capó, Alejandro Fernández, Karol G, Kany García, Los Tigres del Norte, Christian Nodal and Fito Páez. 

Other confirmed performers for the Thursday, Nov. 19 event are current nominees Anuel AA, Calibre 50, Julio Reyes Copello, Alex Cuba, Guaynaa, Víctor Manuelle, Ricardo Montaner, Debi Nova, Nathy Peluso, Raquel Sofía, and Sebastián Yatra.

Co-host Sánchez of Without a Trace fame returns for the fifth time, after hosting the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th annual Latin Grammy Awards. Mexican singer Rivera, who rose to fame as the winner of the third generation of the television contest La Academia, previously joined as emcee during the awards’ 18th edition.

With the theme “Music Makes Us Human,” the telecast will be anchored from Miami, featuring performances from multiple cities around the world. “The show will be a celebration of musical excellence and the power of music to bring us together, through diverse stories of hope, community and a renewed sense of purpose,” said the Academy in a press release.

The Latin Grammy Awards will air on Univision on Thurs., Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CT). The broadcast will also air on the cable channel TNT in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, and on Televisa on Channel 5.

The Latin Grammy Award show, in which the majority of the categories are awarded, will precede the telecast. This long-established ceremony will be a virtual production, featuring remote performances and the ability for all nominees to participate.

Due to the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 21st Annual Latin Grammy Awards will not have a live audience or a red carpet. The Latin Recording Academy, Univision and its production teams will adhere to strictest safety guidelines and protocols, according to the awards’ organizers.

The Leading Ladies of Entertainment is an initiative that honors and recognizes professional and socially conscious women within the arts and entertainment fields who have made significant  contributions, inspiring the next generation of female leaders, according to the Academy. The recognition has become part of the annual Latin Grammy Week celebration leading up to the Latin Grammy Awards.

This year’s Leading Ladies of Entertainment honorees will be acknowledged during a virtual ceremony on Nov. 17 due to the Covid pandemic. Two-time Latin Grammy winner and Grammy nominee, singer, songwriter and actress Erika Ender, who herself was among the 2017 Leading Ladies of Entertainment, will host. The Latin Grammy Awards will take place two days later.

“Every year, not only am I amazed at the group selected to receive the Leading Ladies of Entertainment distinction, but also proud to celebrate and honor such distinguished leaders who have forged paths for so many,” said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., Latin Recording Academy president. “These four successful women are passionate, driven and extraordinarily inspirational. We are grateful for the positive impact they have on our communities and the example they set for the next generation of leaders, demonstrating that anything is possible.”

SELENA GOMEZ
Gomez is a singer, actress and producer. As a pop vocalist and recording artist, Gomez has achieved tremendous commercial success, selling more than 145 million singles worldwide and garnering over 25 billion global streams. “Lose You to Love Me,” the first single off her critically acclaimed album Rare, marked a historic moment for the singer as she landed her first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

As an actress, she starred in Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers, the Academy Award-nominated film The Big Short opposite Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling, and Fundamentals of Caring alongside Paul Rudd

Gomez also serves as an executive producer of the hit Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why. She has used her platform to speak out on social causes throughout her career and went on to executive produce the critically acclaimed Netflix docu-series Living Undocumented, which created much-needed exposure and discussion regarding the polarizing issue of undocumented people living in the United States. In addition, Gomez serves as executive producer of the new HBO Max cooking show Selena + Chef as well as the recently released feature film Broken Hearts Gallery. She will also be the executive producer and will star, along with comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short, in the upcoming Hulu series Only Murders in the Building.

GLORIA ‘GOYO’ MARTÍNEZ
As the passionate, soulful voice of Colombia’s Latin Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated trio ChocQuibTown, Martínez has become one of the most rousing and conscious lyricists in Latin music. The Afro-Colombian singer, rapper and composer has also been championing more inclusivity and equality since the start of her career.

Born in Chocó, a department in Colombia nestled along the Pacific coast, Martínez grew up in a vibrant, musical household. Her favorite track growing up was “Goyito Sabater” by El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, which endearingly earned her the nickname Goyo. With ChocQuibTown, Goyo has navigated spaces in urban, alternative and tropical genres, while always representing their love of Colombian folklore. This ability to maneuver seamlessly across musical styles has linked them to noteworthy collaborations with artists such as Tego Calderón, Farruko, Carlos Santana, Carlos Vives and Zion & Lennox.

ANGELA N. MARTINEZ
A Miami native, Martinez has been working in the music business for the past 20 years. She has garnered experience working in-house at BMG US Latin, Universal Music Publishing Group and EMI Music Latin America.

In addition to her corporate experience, she has worked independently with top artists, songwriters and producers such as Mike Bahía, Claudia Brant, Camilo, Mau y Ricky, Luis Fonsi, Ricardo Montaner, Pitbull and Ozuna, to mention a few. Billboard magazine has recognized Martinez as a “Top Music Attorney” for two consecutive years and she recently received the 2020 “Wonder Woman of Latin Music” award from the Latin Alternative Music Conference.

MARÍA ELENA SALINAS
Salinas is an award-winning journalist and author. She joined CBS News as a contributor in 2019 and previously served as co-anchor of Univision‘s evening news program for more than 30 years. Her work has earned the top awards presented in broadcasting, including multiple Emmys, a Peabody, Gracie Awards, the Edward R. Murrow Award and the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism.

A versatile and bilingual journalist, Salinas has interviewed every U.S. president since Jimmy Carter. She was one of the first female journalists in wartime Baghdad, participated in the 2004 bilingual debate on Hispanic issues and in 2007 co-hosted the first Democratic and Republican presidential candidate forums in Spanish for Univision.

Salinas is a founding member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and for over two decades has provided dozens of journalism students with a scholarship in her name.

The Latin Recording Academy is an international nonprofit that aims at nurturing, celebrating, honoring and elevating Latin music and its creators. It produces the annual Latin Grammy Awards, which honor excellence in the recording arts and sciences.
