#1 Among day adults 18-49 in New York, Miami, Houston, Dallas, and Chicago

La Reina Del Sur premiered on Monday, April 22nd as the #1 Program regardless of language in total day adults 18-49 in New York, Miami, Houston, Dallas and Chicago. It more than double Univision’s audience and outperforming CBS’ Bull and ABC’s The Fix, according to Nielsen.

It’s been an eight year pause since the end of the first season of La Reina Del sur. But the interest from fans who have not forgotten Teresa Mendoza (Played by Kate del Castillo) can’t contain the excitement of watching one of the most badass Latina on screen anywhere.

In its most anticipated premiere ever and in the 10pm/9C time slot it is Telemundo’s biggest and most ambitious production to date. La Reina del SurSeason 2 picks up the story eight years after Teresa Mendoza, played by international star del Castillo, was last seen as she began her life in the witness protection program.

Telemundo’s first season of La Reina del Sur broke rating records, with the finale outperforming all networks, regardless of language, and unleashed the network’s Super Series franchise success story.

Boasting an international cast, the high-action, dramatic 60-episode Super Series™ was shot in eight countries around the world using the highest-level production values. The return of La Reina del Sur is set eight years since powerful drug trafficker Teresa Mendoza brought down Mexican presidential candidate Epifanio Vargas and had to disappear into witness protection. She now leads a life of total anonymity in Italy as “Maria Dantes,” peacefully raising her daughter Sofia in the Tuscan village of Massa Marittima. However, her life takes an unexpected turn as her past finally catches up to her and puts her and her family’s very existence in jeopardy. Now, Teresa Mendoza will do the impossible to reclaim her throne as La Reina del Sur.
