<p id="viewer-fh87r">Developed by Nicaraguan-American <strong>Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa </strong>and based on <em>Archie Comics</em>, the series is a bold and subversive take on the wholesome town of Riverdale and some of its teen residents, including Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead, as they discover the darkness and dangers that bubble underneath their town’s wholesome façade.</p>



<p id="viewer-61hcm">The long-running series features two Latino actors in prominent roles, <strong>Camila Mendes </strong>as Veronica Lodge and <strong>Mark Consuelos </strong>as Veronica’s father, Hiram Lodge. Main cast members also include <strong>K.J. Apa </strong>as Archie Andrews, <strong>Lili Reinhart </strong>as Betty Cooper and <strong>Cole Sprouse </strong>as Jughead Jones. <em>Riverdale </em>has brought recognition to Brazilian-American Mendes. The role of Veronica won her a Teen Choice Award and nominations to several other honors, including the People&#8217;s Choice Awards, MTV Movie + TV Awards and Kids&#8217; Choice Awards.</p>



<p id="viewer-40u7b">The series was originally scheduled to return for its midseason premiere March 6.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em>Riverdale </em>and <em>Dangerous Lies </em>star <strong>Camila Mendes </strong>is currently filming Netflix&#8217;s new feature <em>Strangers</em>.</p>


<p>The film follows Drea and Eleanor, two teens who agree to go after one another&#8217;s bullies. Brazilian-American Mendes will play Drea while the role of Eleanor will go to <strong>Maya Hawke </strong>of <em>Stranger Things</em>.</p>


<p>Directing <em>Strangers </em>is <strong>Jennifer Kaytin Robinson </strong>(<em>Someone Great</em>), who also co-writes the script along with <strong>Celeste Ballard </strong>(<em>Wrecked</em>) and co-produces along with <strong>Anthony Bregman </strong>(<em>Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind</em>) and <strong>Peter Cron </strong>(<em>The Circle</em>) for Likely Story under their overall deal with Netflix.</p>


<p>Rounding up the cast are <strong>Austin Abrams </strong>(<em>Dash &amp; Lily</em>, <em>Chemical Hearts</em>), <strong>Alisha Boe </strong>(<em>13 Reasons Why</em>), <strong>Talia Ryder </strong>(<em>West Side Story</em>, <em>Never Rarely Sometimes Always</em>), <strong>Paris Berelc </strong>(<em>Hubie Halloween</em>, <em>Alexa &amp; Katie</em>), <strong>Jonathan Daviss </strong>(<em>Outer Banks</em>), <strong>Maia Reficco </strong>(<em>Next To Normal</em>, <em>Evita</em>, <em>Kally’s Mashup</em>) and <strong>Ava Capri </strong>(<em>Love, Victor</em>), <strong>Rish Shah </strong>(<em>Ms. Marvel</em>) and <strong>Sophie Turner</strong> (<em>Game of Thrones</em>).</p>

<p>Mendes is a budding actress who currently stars in the CW’s teen drama <em>Riverdale</em>, playing eloquent high school sophomore Veronica Lodge. That breakout role won her a Teen Choice Award and nominations to various other prizes. The series is based on the characters of the <em>Archie </em>comic book series. <p><strong>Lana Parrilla</strong>, <strong>B.K. Cannon</strong>,<strong> Jordane Christie, Matthew Daddario </strong>and <strong>Veronica</strong> <strong>Falcón</strong> have joined the cast of CBS All Access&#8217; dark comedy <em>Why Women Kill</em> created by <strong>Marc</strong> <strong>Cherry</strong> (<em>Devious Maids, Desperate Housewive</em>s). Set in multiple time periods, the series depicts the events leading to a death that occurs after the respective husbands of three married women commit adultery.The new cast members will appear alongside <strong>Allison Tolman</strong> and <strong>Nick Frost</strong> in the sophomore installment of the dark comedy series.</p>

<p>As previously announced, Tolman and Frost will play Alma and Bertram, a seemingly ordinary couple with mundane ambitions whose marriage is threatened when Alma finds out Bertram has been keeping a secret hobby.</p>


<p>Parrilla (<em>The Tax Collector</em>, <em>Once Upon A Time</em>) will portray Rita, the sardonic wife to the wealthy and evil Carlo Castillo. Rita rules over the garden club that Alma desperately wants to join, and is engaged in an affair with a younger lover while she waits for her elderly husband to die.</p>


<p>Falcón (<em>Perry Mason</em>, <em>Queen of the South</em>) will portray Catherine, Carlo Castillo’s spinster daughter. Prim and proper, Catherine detests Rita, and returns to town after a mysterious accident, searching for a way to destroy her.</p>


<p>Cannon (<em>Switched at Birth</em>, <em>Sin City Saints</em>) will play Dee, Alma’s wry and brassy daughter who works as a waitress in a local diner. Though self-deprecating, Dee can be vulnerable under her emotional armor and is both excited and humiliated by her illicit affair with a secret lover.</p>


<p>Christie (<em>The Haunting of Hill House</em>, <em>Atlanta</em>) will appear as Vern, a tough and rugged private detective, who Rita hires to investigate Scooter when she begins to suspect he&#8217;s cheating on her.</p>


<p>The new season of <em>Why Women Kill</em> is set to release in 2021. For now, catch up on Season 1 of <em>Why Women Kill</em> on CBS All Access.</p>

<p><em>Riverdale </em>star <strong>Camila Mendes</strong> and <em>Stranger Things</em> actress <strong>Maya Hawke</strong> will together star in a dark comedy for Netflix called <em>Strangers </em>that resembles the <strong>Alfred Hitchcock</strong> classic <em>Strangers on a Train</em>.</p>


<p>Strangers is directed by <strong>Jennifer Kaytin Robinson</strong> (<em>Someone Great</em>) based on a screenplay she wrote with <strong>Celeste Ballard</strong>, and the film’s premise follows two strangers plot to murder someone the other person wants gone. <em>Strangers</em> subverts that idea of Drew, the trendy It Girl and Eleanor, an alternative girl, who team up to go after each other’s bullies.</p>


<p>Robinson is producing the feature film with <strong>Anthony Bregman</strong> and <strong>Peter Cron</strong> for Likely Story under their overall deal with Netflix. Mendes can also be seen in Hulu’s <em>Palm Springs</em> and Netflix’s <em>The Perfect Date</em>.</p>

<p><strong>Anthony Ramos</strong> (<em>Hamilton</em>) has been cast in a recurring role in the upcoming fourth season of HBO’s Emmy-winning drama series <em>In Treatment</em>. opposite <strong>Uzo Aduba</strong> (<em>Orange is the New Black</em>) </p>


<p><em>In Treatment,</em> which ended a three-season run in 2010, is returning for a fourth season as a reimagined half-hour series. The series is in pre-production under COVID-19 guidelines, with a 2021 debut planned to air on HBO and stream on HBO Max.</p>


<p>The return of the series brings a diverse trio of patients in session with an observant, empathetic therapist, played by Aduba, who is wrestling with her own issues.</p>


<p>Ramos will play Eladio, a patient who works as a home health aide for a wealthy family’s adult son. Additional cast has yet to be announced. &nbsp;</p>


<p><strong>Stephen Levinson</strong>,<strong> Mark Wahlberg</strong>,<strong> Hagai Levi</strong>,<strong> Jennifer Schuur</strong>,<strong> Joshua Allen </strong>and<strong> Melissa Bernstein</strong> will serve as exec producers of the new season, with <strong>Joanne Toll </strong>and<strong> Noa</strong> <strong>Tishby</strong> co-executive producers.</p>


<p>Ramos first made his mark in the Tony and Grammy award-winning Broadway smash <em>Hamilton</em>, which is now streaming on Disney+. He can currently be seen in the feature <em>Honest Thief</em> opposite <strong>Liam Neeson</strong>. He will also star in <strong>Lin-Manuel Miranda’s </strong>anticipated feature, <em>In The Heights,</em> directed by <strong>Jon M. Chu</strong>, set to premiere in summer 2021. Ramos is repped by CAA, Door 24, Modest! and Paul Hastings.</p>

<p>East LA’s <em>Vida</em> cast member <strong>Mishel Prada</strong> is on her way to the CW’s <em>Riverdale</em> in a recurring role. Prada will play Hermosa, a Miami-born and raised private detective who arrives in town. Hermosa is confident, ambitious and calculating, and knows that everything comes with a price. </p>


<p>On <em>Vida,</em> a fully Latina show created by <strong>Tanya Saracho</strong>, Mishel plays Emma a queer Latinx woman, the older of two estranged sisters who return to their old neighborhood where they are confronted by their past and surprising family revelations. Her role on <em>Riverdale </em>will not affect her work schedule on <em>Vida.</em></p>


<p>In addition to her role on <em>Vida</em>, Prada also starred on AMC’s Emmy nominated short-form digital series<strong>: </strong><em>Fear the Walking Dead: Passage</em><strong>.</strong> </p>


<p><em>Riverdale</em> was created by <strong>Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, </strong>based on the <em>Archie </em>comic book characters.  He is also the creator of <em>Chilling Adventures of Sabrina</em> on Netflix.
