The new limited series Rebelde, a reboot of the Mexican telenovela from two decades ago, features a new generation of characters attending Elite Way School, the high school where Latin Grammy-nominated RBD was born almost two decades ago. In addition to romance, friendship and music, the eight-episode drama also includes a new twist: a mysterious secret society that threatens the artistic aspirations of the central characters. Rebelde premieres Jan. 5.
The new cast features Azul Guaita Bracamontes, Giovanna Grigio, Franco Masini, Sergio Mayer Mori, Alejandro Puente, Jeronimo Cantillo, Lizeth Selene, Andrea Chaparro, Estefania Villarreal, Karla Cossío, Karla Sofía Gascón, Leonardo de Lozanne and Edwarda Gurrola. The series is directed by Santiago Limón, a third assistant director in the 2011 action thriller Colombiana, and Yibran Asaud, winner of the 2021 Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Achievement at the Berlin Film Festival for the editing work in Una película de policías (A Cop Movie).
The new Rebelde series is based on the concept by Cris Morena Group and Dori Media Group that was later adapted by Televisa. It is produced by Woo Films and Propagate.
