There is a new and exciting theatrical project going on at the SEIU-USWW!
Some of their L.A. union janitors have written a play to tell their story—directed, dramatized, and produced by Jeanette Godoy—that has been accepted into the Hollywood Fringe Festival (the first Spanish-language play at the Fringe).
From the “Justice for Janitors Campaign” in the 1990s to “End Rape on the Night Shift” in 2016, Ya Basta: Time’s Been Up tells the story of the trials and triumphs of immigrant janitors’ (fight) to end rape on the night shift while resisting to no longer be invisible in the workplace.
This theatrical production sheds light to the immigrant women-led movement, which redefines the fight for gender equity for all women in this nation, and inspires immigrants to say YA BASTA! See their culminating performance live on June 14th, 15th and 16th at Assistance League Theatre in Los Angeles.
