You, Me & Her has been selected as the Spotlight Unleashed film at this year’s Dances With Film Festival in Los Angeles and premieres Sunday, July 2. The story explores the struggle of being in a long-term committed relationship; how we can start to take each other for granted and what it looks like to fantasize about being with someone else. You, Me & Her is an exploration of these complex emotions in an honest and authentic way from the husband-and-wife team, director/producer Dan Levy Dagerman and his wife, writer/producer/lead actress Selina Ringel.
You, Me & Her centers on Mags (played by Ringel) and Ash (Ritesh Rajan; Russian Doll, Jungle Book) a couple who have been together for 10 years and going through the motions of their relationship. They can’t stop arguing on their first vacation after having a baby until they meet Angela (Sydney Park, Walking Dead, First Love), a spiritual digital nomad, who takes a romantic interest in Mags. Suddenly Ash and Mags start to reconnect over the idea of having a threesome in hopes that the excitement of the potential sexual experience will save their marriage.
“As a married woman in my 30s with a child, it was very surprising to find myself incredibly attracted to another woman for the first time and it sparked an exploration of my own sexuality. I think a lot of people will relate to this super personal story and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be coming back to DWF, a champion of truly independent film, for our World Premiere at the Chinese Theatre,” said Ringel.
Ringel is an award-winning Mexican American actress, comedian, writer, and producer. She wrote You Me & Her and stars in the role of Mags. She recently starred in the stand-up comedy special, Two Moms, 1 Mic, which is currently available on Prime Video. Her most recent feature film, Single Mother By Choice, a hybrid-docu-narrative that tracked her actual pregnancy in real-time during the 2020 pandemic, is streaming on HBOMAX. She performs stand-up at venues all over LA including The Comedy Store, The Improv, and The Ice House. Selina graduated with a Master’s in Fine Arts from the Producing program at the AFI Conservatory in 2014.
“As a husband-and-wife team, we write stories that are a hyperbole of our lives,” stated director Dan Levy Dagerman. “We believe that this approach allows us to create films that we hope will resonate with audiences on a deeper level, sparking thought and conversation about love, relationships, and the human condition.”
The film also stars Roberto Aguirre (Boulevard, Too Old to Die Young), Marianna Burelli (Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion, Paramedicos), Graham Sibley (Good Trouble, Dark Web), Anna Campbell (Mad Men, Jane The Virgin), and features Ariel Award winner Hernan Mendoza (After Lucia, La Caida) and legendary comedian Gerry Bednob (40 Year Old Virgin, Zack & Miri Make a Porno). Ringel penned the script, written in Spanglish, and is producing alongside Dagerman of Two Hands Productions, Fernando Lebrija and Pablo Lebrija of Irreversible Pictures, and Cameron Fife of June Street Productions. Executive producers are Hiren C. Surti, Cameron Motola, Shriram Kasinathan, Alfredo & Deborah Ringel, and Archana Misra.
