These past couple of days, I’ve been on my RnB kick, reminiscing the old and discovering some new gems. This week I’d like to introduce you to Angelica Vila and her latest album Deception SZN 1, released in July of 2020.

Vila is a New Yorker, based in the Bronx and signed under Roc Nation. Angelicas’s Spotify and Apple Music discography dates back to 2016 with her single Making Up My Mind. Since then, she’s dropped an EP, 1998, along with two other singles before her debut album, Deception SZN 1. The album includes 11 tracks and features artists like, Jacquees, Tory Lanez, Mariah Angeliq, Jenn Morel, and Ceraadi.

I’m a fan of the album, but like any fan, I certainly have my favorites. I love Why, featuring Jacquees, both of their voices mesh so pleasantly together; it makes my ears melt. I’m a sucker for love songs, and More In The Morning is that perfect upbeat song to daydream about your lover too. I’m also a fan of Next Episode, where she takes a classic Los Angeles record and makes it her own. I was surprised to hear the sample when I first heard it, but I thoroughly enjoy the song!

Don’t make the mistake of not taking a listen! For more on Angelica, stream Deception SZN 1, and follow her social media.
